Warning.....Be Wary of Tricky Sales Tactics!
As I'm arriving at my office today I am greeted by our Director of First Impressions and she has a young lady on the phone eager to speak with someone about buying a home. Did I want to take the call?
Well sure!
When I pick up the phone I am greeted by a very enthusiastic and bubbly woman, and after asking me how I am doing she tells me I need to come to San Diego and go bungee jumping. Okey dokey......that's weird.
She then proceeds to tell me that she is with some pen company, "you know, the one that puts your photo, company and contact info on the pen so you can hand them out to everyone you know"? They are having a big promotion and need to sell I don't remember how many million pens by midnight and she can offer me a great deal! She's talking so fast I'm not catching everything she says but I know I'm not buying any pens, especially from someone who tricked me into talking to her. I'm not sure why at that point I didn't just tell her I wasn't interested like I normally would have. Instead, I ask if she can send me an email so I can see what the pens look like and have the pricing in front of me.
She mutters something unintelligible and HANGS UP ON ME! I'm not sure if she was up to no good or just having a bad day but.......
This reminded me of years ago when I worked in an office. There was a scam where someone would call claiming they were selling copier supplies and would trick you into giving them the make and serial number of your copier. They would call back later and sound legitimate and offer a great deal, hoping some unsuspecting person would place an order and give them a credit card number......
BE CAREFUL!
